The E46s with OEM ZKW Bi-Xenon headlights are notorious for basically self-destructing due to a very cheap plastic used for the projector bowl. Fortunately, the Morimoto Retro-Quik system is designed as a bolt-on upgrade for a big performance boost inside the headlights on all E46s with OEM ZKW Bi-Xenon headlights.
Probably the most under-rated Bi-xenon projector from Morimoto, but the Morimoto EvoX-R are especially useful for original equipment upgrades on cars that originally used Hella projectors. With so many 3” Hella projectors in service across many European makes and models, We most often recommend the EvoX-R to guys looking for an easy way to gain tons of performance via a direct swap in place of their factory projectors. Out with the old and in with the new, because even though the EvoX-R’s optics are derived from Hella’s newer designs, they’ve been further optimized with a clear lens and more reflective bowl to easily out-perform their original-equipment cousins..
100% Engineered in the US. Laser cut from steel plate. The Retro-Quik brackets at the heart of the kit are designed to adapt the Morimoto EvoX-R projectors directly in place of the burned stock units. Using the original mounting holes paired with new hardware, they are the beauty behind the kit that makes it an easy install. Some trimming is required here, so just a heads up to plan accordingly.

Homegrown by Morimoto to out-perform any alternatives on the market when installed in projector-based headlight…and it shows. We admit the latest generation XB HID bulbs are pretty impressive when compared to other bulbs, and even older Morimoto bulbs. At the heart of the XB bulbs is their perfectly-aligned 100% Philips quartz glass capsule that houses high quality halide salts from German-supplier Messer. In our annual lux comparison test, they produced nearly the same luminosity (intensity) as the industry benchmark Osram CBI bulbs at 5500K. No, you’re not seeing things here, but yes you will be seeing everything at night.
Double high beams?! whaaaat! Since these cars have a pre-existing halogen high beam and the new projectors in the Retro-Quik system have their own bi-xenon high beams, you’ll have no problem lighting up the back roads. Put simply, the optional Morimoto high beam splitters allow you to make this feature work easily without any cutting or splicing to the factory wiring by diverting power from the halogen bulb into the projector’s high beam solenoid, making them both work at the same time.
