It just doesn’t stop! That is, the continued improvement we’ve seen from Morimoto on their XSB Switchback halos. You ask and they deliver, simple as that! Brighter White? Yes. Amazing Amber? Oh yeah. Upgraded Drivers? Done. Longer Wiring, You bet. Smoother, more refined Coating? Can do! The new 3.0 version of the Morimoto XSB LEDs is the best one yet, and honestly – we’re not sure what more to ask for!
An updated blend of phosphorous silicone coats the front face of the XSB 3.0 halos and is responsible for their neutral “white when off” look and their amazing, uniform intensity – which is unlike anything else on the market. Users complained that earlier generation XSB halos had problems with stuff “sticking” to and/or causing a lot of wrinkles in the old softer coating – but that, our friends, is now a problem of the past!
Traditional switchback halos run the white, flash the amber, and then simply turn the white back on. That’s cool and all, but what’s even cooler is the fade-on-function of the new XSB 3.0 Halos! After the amber signal is turned off; their all-new LED Drivers utilize PWM to gradually ramp up the intensity of the white mode again. A small detail, but a neat one that looks awesome none the less. You can also pick up a set of the new Morimoto X-VF switchback bulbs to match – since they also have the cool new Fade-On Drivers.
Though they come out of the box ready to run as a switchback system, the XSB halos can easily also be wired for use as a bright Amber-only or White-only halo if that’s what you want. Just wire up the appropriate input(s) and you’re ready to roll!
Wiring is easy with a variant of the X Change Module integrated into the updated 3rd Gen LED drivers that power each ring. The white wire receives a constant 12V+. The black wire is grounded, and the orange wire is tapped into the turn signal circuit. Super simple!
There are three micro-mounts integrated into their backing, making the XSB’s the easiest and cleanest rings on the market to install. (Patent Pending) Now you can forget about failing glue or wires wrapped around the face of your halos. Don’t be “that guy” with dripping glue or picture hanging wire visible inside your headlights.
The innovative Hybrid-LED technology delivers a virtually infinite lifespan of 50,000 hours. That’s almost six straight years! Because they’re based on much more stable and mature SMD-LEDs; they are considerably more reliable between hot/cold cycles compared to “new” COB based halos.
